Working With Joyfire
Where should I start?
Most people start with a 15-minute discovery call. We'll talk about where you are, where you want to go, and the next right step (even if it's not with us). A Messaging Sprint or a Growth Plan is often the first step, because almost everything we can help you with works better with a solid messaging foundation.
What happens on a discovery call?
Fifteen minutes: you tell us where you want to grow and what's getting in the way, and we decide together whether Joyfire is a fit and what a smart first step looks like. No pressure and no pitch.
Do you work with businesses outside Metro Detroit?
Yes. Joyfire is based in Metro Detroit and works with businesses and nonprofits nationwide.
Does Joyfire use AI?
Yes, where it helps us move faster. But messaging and narratives are never written by AI; they are written by humans. The only way to write compelling messages for humans, in our opinion, is to have humans do the writing and the differentiation. We call it human-engineered, AI-assisted.
What's the difference between Joyfire and CreateMethod?
Joyfire faces outward: how your business is seen, what you say, and how you market. CreateMethod faces inward: how you and your team work and get things done.
How do I know if I need better messaging, a new website, or a rebrand?
If people don't understand what you do, start with messaging. If your site is outdated or hard to share, that's a website project. If you've outgrown the brand itself, it's a rebrand. Not sure? That's exactly what the discovery call is for.

How much does a messaging sprint cost in Metro Detroit?
The Messaging Sprint is one fixed price, paid up front, and finished in four weeks. See current pricing.
What's the difference between messaging and branding?
Messaging is your brand's narrative and how your words attract customers. Branding includes how you look: logos, color palettes, design templates, and the like. Clear messaging comes first; design follows copy.
Should I start with the Messaging Sprint or the Growth Plan Sprint?
Start with messaging if your main problem is attracting qualified leads through your public channels. Choose the Growth Plan if you also want a 90-day marketing plan and coaching to put it into action.
What will I actually walk away with?
A Messaging Guide with your positioning statement, core message, value propositions, and brand narrative, plus a Customer Persona Guide and a custom sales sheet.
What if I want more help after a Sprint?
If you move to a larger Joyfire engagement within 30 days, half of your Sprint fee is credited toward it.

How much does a small business website cost in Metro Detroit?
Joyfire's websites are custom-quoted, and every Messaging + Website Package includes the messaging work most web designers skip. Price depends on page count and features. See current pricing.
What does "AI-assisted" mean for my website?
We use AI where it speeds up the build. Humans who understand your business and its nuances always handle discovery, messaging, voice, and brand decisions.
Will my website show up in ChatGPT and AI search?
AI search results cannot be guaranteed. That said, AI engines can only surface you if your business is explained clearly in the right places. Your site is built with clear messaging and AEO schemas so AI has the best chance of finding you and recommending you to searchers.
Can I update the website myself after launch?
Yes. You get a short training at launch so you can make updates as things change.
Why do a rebrand and website at the same time?
A new brand on an old website confuses customers and AI search. One launch sends one clear signal, and you only pay for messaging once.
Will a rebrand hurt my Google or AI search visibility?
A careless rebrand can. That's why every Joyfire Rebrand is delivered AEO-ready: we keep your messaging consistent, set up proper redirects, and structure your new site so search tools and AI can reconnect it to the reputation you've already built. We can't control the algorithms, but we do everything on our side to protect your visibility through the transition.

How much does a ghostwriter cost for a business owner in Metro Detroit?

Will ghostwriting sound like AI wrote it?
No. AI can draft, but it can't decide what's true about you or how you'd say it. A person who knows your voice leads every piece, and you approve it before anything goes out.
Is it honest to publish writing someone else helped create?
Yes. Ghostwriting is your ideas, your concepts, and your methodology. We work hard to pick up on your speaking patterns, writing patterns, and preferred styles. What we write is yours; you just outsourced the writing for efficiency.
Do you ghostwrite books?
Yes. Books and booklets, from short booklets to full-length books, are quoted as custom projects. Tell us about yours on a discovery call.
Is Leader Coaching the same as executive coaching?
No. Leader Coaching focuses on how you're seen: your personal brand, message, and visibility. For how you and your team work and execute, see CreateMethod.
What's the difference between Quarterly Advisory and a fractional CMO?
A fractional CMO typically manages your team and marketing week to week. Quarterly Advisory gives you strategic direction and accountability while your team or vendors do the work.
Can I combine Partnerships?
Yes. Many leaders use Leader Coaching to shape their message and Ghostwriting to publish it consistently.
Answer-Engine Optimization (AEO)
What is AEO, and does my small business need it?
AEO, or answer-engine optimization, helps AI tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, and Perplexity find and recommend your business. If your customers ask AI for recommendations, you need it.
How do I get my business recommended by ChatGPT?
AI can only recommend a business whose descriptions are set up properly and that explains its services clearly and with focus. Start with a clear message, then keep your website and listings aligned so AI can find it and recommend you.
What's the difference between AEO and SEO?
SEO helps you rank in a list of search results. AEO helps AI tools present your business as the answer when a user asks a question. Both depend on clear, consistent content.
How soon will I see results with AEO?
You'll see your baseline before we change anything. With the Engine tier, we re-scan ChatGPT, Google AI Overview, and Perplexity 30 days after launch and show you what changed.
What if my message isn't clear yet?
Start with the Messaging Sprint. AEO works best once you can explain what you provide and do clearly.

Why don't you list website prices?
Every website is different. We quote each one for exactly the pages and features you need, so you never pay for extras you won't use.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Builds can be paid 50/50 or split over 3 months. Partnerships are billed monthly.
Do you offer nonprofit pricing?

Nonprofits
Do you offer nonprofit pricing?
Yes. Our Sprints and Builds have nonprofit pricing for registered 501(c)(3) organizations, set for mission budgets from the start. Partnerships and AEO use one rate for every organization. See nonprofit services and pricing.
Where should our nonprofit start?
Most nonprofits start with the Donor Development Sprint. It clarifies your message and gives you a thank-you sequence that keeps donors giving, and every other service builds on it.
Do you write grants?
No. Our nonprofit work focuses on individual donors, your message, and how people find and donate to your mission.
Can our board use the work too?
Yes. Everything is written so board members, staff, and volunteers can talk about your mission clearly and consistently.
